Project Scale:
The SHANGHAI PLAZA is the landmark heritage renovation project located at the core commercial sphere at HuaiHai Road. The total construction area is about 66000 square meters. Our company is committed to fulfill the signage "wayfinding system project".
>> CHALLENGE
This type of signage isn't merely about channel letters, but a systemic project consisting of "structures+optics+materials". The core difficulty lies in maintaining the balance between light transmission and structure, as well as the uniform lighting control of deep cavities.
Contradiction between structure and light transmission: the hollow mesh metal has to satisfy light transmission effect and structure solidarity at the same time.
· excessive large holes: abnormal structure and instability
· excessive small holes: blocked lighting and dull effect
Difficult uniform lighting of deep cavities: the 300mm thickness forms deep cavities, and easily produces:
1.light spots, dark areas
2.regional overlight or gray area
3.uneven light transmission at letter edges
Overall stability of outdoor usage:
- Rainwater Infiltration (Inflow of natural water due to mesh structure)
- LED Heat Dissipation and Lifespan problems
- Structural and Precision Challenges exposed by Large-Scale Installation
>> SOLUTION
Structural system optimization: Achieving light transmission and strength balance through multiple tests on density of hollow panel
Optical system design: It is the core element of this project, the internal uses white acrylic diffuser plate, optimizing light transmittance, Side installation of LED light sources, reducing power, and a hidden drainage structure at the bottom to prevent water accumulation.
Internal reflection management to minimize light loss and shadow

This type of signage, under the mutual design of structure, optics and engineering system, achieved a more transparent, even and structural light transmission effect provided a guaranteed long-term stability.
